RADIESSE

As part of the natural aging process, the production of collagen (a substance that naturally firms and plumps the skin) begins to slow down. The result of this is diminished facial volume and the formation of wrinkles, fine lines, and skin laxity that robs the face of its youthful appearance. Radiesse® works by immediately replenishing the lost volume and minimizing the effects of aging. Patients seeking a non-surgical method of softening wrinkles and deep creases are urged to consider Radiesse.

Contact us today and schedule a consultation with our injectable dermal filler expert Dr. Ken Reed. Our goal at Integrated Dermatology is to exceed our patients’ expectations and help them achieve their aesthetic goals.

ABOUT RADIESSE
Radiesse is an FDA-approved dermal filler that is made from biocompatible substances. Within this water-based gel are calcium-based microspheres which help promote the body’s natural production of collagen. Radiesse can be injected into the skin to soften wrinkles and deep creases, enhance specific facial features, and assist in reversing the signs of aging on the hands. Yes, fine lines and wrinkles can effectively be smoothed without surgery or scarring. The results of Radiesse are immediate and often last as long as a year before reinjection is needed to maintain the appearance achieved with this treatment.

BENEFITS
Receiving Radiesse injections is simple, convenient, easy, and safe. Numerous benefits can be enjoyed by undergoing this treatment, including:

Diminishes deep creases and wrinkles
Replaces lost volume immediately
Stimulates your body’s natural production of collagen
Absorbed safely by the body
Boosts self-image and confidence
The formula is combined with lidocaine to provide additional comfort, so numbing agents often aren’t necessary with injections; they are available though. Treatment can be done in approximately 30 minutes and patients can leave the office immediately. No downtime is required after injections.

When looking to improve the appearance of their skin, patients are very pleased with the benefits dermal fillers provide. These treatments are a short-term solution to correct certain signs of aging, but with maintenance, the results can be long-lasting.

For men and women who do not want to go through a surgical procedure or are looking for a more cost-effective treatment, Radiesse injections are a fantastic alternative.

WHAT DOES RADIESSE TREAT?

RADIESSE VS OTHER DERMAL FILLERS
We are proud to offer multiple injectable dermal fillers at Integrated Dermatology to meet the different needs of our array of patients. Each dermal filler has its pros and cons which are touched on below, but Dr. Reed is happy to go into further detail during consultation appointments.

Radiesse injection results last about one year, where other dermal fillers generally need to be re-administered roughly every 6 months. Patients who normally undergo hyaluronic acid or collagen-based injections are extremely pleased with the long lasting results that Radiesse provides because of its calcium-based microspheres which cause the stimulation of collagen growth. This allows for long-term, age-defying results as the body repairs its own skin, while other dermal fillers are absorbed quickly without additional benefit. Providing injections with microspheres means treatments are needed less frequently which saves our patients time, and money.

These are just some of the many reasons why Radiesse is one of the more recommended types of dermal fillers in our practice. This is not to say though that other dermal fillers do not provide stunning results. The particular filler ideal for an individual case will be decided based on factors such as the patient’s concern, anatomy, and the desired results. For those who are interested in finding out more about the differences in the dermal fillers Integrated Dermatology offers, please contact one of our Massachusetts locations to request a consultation.

RADIESSE VS BOTOX
While Radiesse and Botox are both anti-aging injectable treatments, they differ in the way they achieve youthful results.
Radiesse is a dermal filler which uses a gel solution to temporarily soften the appearance of wrinkles and deep creases by, quite literally, filling them in. Botox is a neurotoxin which temporarily reduces fine lines and wrinkles by stopping muscle contractions. By stopping the muscle contractions, the skin above does not fold, meaning fine lines and wrinkles cannot form as easily. Botox can be used to treat forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines, but it does not address deeper lines like marionette lines. Botox and fillers are often used together in the same treatment session to provide overall youthful results.

ACHIEVING A MORE YOUTHFUL APPEARANCE
The first step toward attaining the youthful look you desire is scheduling a consultation in order to determine candidacy; the majority of women and men will be qualified candidates. At the appointment, the expert injector will examine the areas you wish to have treated.

Those looking into Radiesse treatments should have moderate to severe wrinkles or deep creases, lost facial volume, mildly lax skin, or overly exposed veins on the hands. We may not recommend Radiesse if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain allergies. Radiesse is not recommended for areas such as under the eyes or for lip augmentation; however, we can recommend other dermal fillers for treating these areas. If you are a qualified candidate for treatment, we will work with you to tailor a treatment plan that will meet your particular goals. If time permits, we may be able to perform the injections on the same day.

Dermal fillers allow for very individualized treatment that can be customized to meet your exact aesthetic needs and desires. To find out more information about potential candidacy, please feel free to contact our office today.

THE INJECTION PROCESS
Radiesse injections are commonly performed during the same visit as the consultation unless otherwise discussed. Before beginning treatment, the dermal filler expert may place a local aesthetic onto the treatment area(s) to ensure comfort while receiving the injections; the Radiesse solution does already contain lidocaine for added patient comfort. Once the exact injection sites have been located, the treatment can begin.

The expert will take their time, using their deep understanding of the facial anatomy to inject the appropriate amount of solution to obtain the desired results.
The calcium microsphere-filled gel, when injected, will plump the skin and diminish the look of wrinkles and creases. Treatment can be performed on the back of the hands as well to mask overly prominent veins. We pride ourselves at Integrated Dermatology on providing natural-looking results.

RECOVERY
No downtime is necessary after dermal filler treatments. It is recommended that men and women who choose to receive Radiesse injections should stay out of direct sunlight and refrain from extensive physical activity for the remainder of the day. Patients may experience slight swelling or bruising in the injection area(s) for a couple of days; these will subside on their own but can be aided with cold compresses. Mineral makeup can be used to conceal the aforementioned effects.

RESULTS
Radiesse provides amazing results that can be seen immediately and will only improve over time. Because this product stimulates collagen growth, results are very long-lasting. The new collagen will work to maintain youthful facial volume and help to prevent wrinkles and skin laxity from occurring between treatments. Although the results are not permanent, they can last up to a year or more before needing further injections. Our patients have been very satisfied with the natural-looking results that this particular dermal filler provides and are simply amazed at the improvement of their appearance for months after receiving the treatment.

Contact our office today to learn more about Radiesse and the other injectables that we offer in our state-of-the-art dermatological practice. Injectable dermal fillers provide patients with the opportunity to bring forth a youthful, more vibrant appearance. You’ll be glad you took the time to learn about ways in which to turn back the hands of time without having to go under the knife and put yourself at risk for infection, scarring, and other complications that come with plastic surgery.

PRICING
The cost of a Radiesse treatment will depend on the specific case and if the patient opts to receive additional treatments or procedures. Please feel free to schedule a private consultation to receive personalized a quote.
