Cysts are often treatable. Though many do not cause pain or discomfort, they can become troublesome over time. They may be in an uncomfortable area of the body where they are constantly rubbed against skin or clothing. They may be a cosmetic issue, or they may even become infected and inflamed. Cysts can also rupture. Many patients come to DermASAP to have these cysts examined and addressed. The most common treatment option for cysts is drainage. If infected, the doctor may also suggest an injection or application of warm compresses to help shrink the remaining cyst. When cysts are stubborn and do not change with treatment, they can be surgically removed if necessary.
